Stanislaw Moniuszko

The Museum of Monyushko in Smilovichi is the only one in the world. For many years the exposition, dedicated to the famous son of the Belarusian land, existed in the village Ozerny, Chervensky district, the township, located a mile from the farm of Abel, where the composer was born. Back in the 1960s to collect items related to the life of Stanislav Monyushko, which at that time little was known at home, began the Director of the village school Vasily Nesterovich. The search was complicated by the fact that the primary sources in the Russian or Belarusian language has not survived-only in Polish. Helped Director-historian daughter Irina Sereda-it was she who later became one of the initiators of the permanent Museum exhibition. Exhibits, for many years contained in the school Museum of Ozerny, for the most part were collected in the 1980s: from the Warsaw and Poznan Opera houses, for example, donated to the Museum the original costumes from the productions of the operas "Galka", "Pariah" and "Countess" of the 1930s. Here were kept the composer's music collections — a genuine rarity.

After the closure of the school in Ozerny, the Museum was revived in the form of Stanislav Monyushko's music room in Smilovichi: in 2016, the idea was announced by the Chervensky children's school of arts for the competition of local initiatives for the project "Promoting local development in the Republic of Belarus", which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the UN development Program. It was here, in the music room in Smilovichi, gradually transferred all the collected heritage-in order to create a full-fledged Museum in the future. And finally, a landmark not only for the Chervensky district, but also for the whole country, the project has been fully implemented: the musical living room and two exhibition halls are ready to receive the first visitors.
